Along the Huai River I Am Glad to Meet My Friend From Liang City
Wei, Ying Wu (737 A.D.-792 A.D.?)
Both of us used to travel between the Yangtze River and the Han River.
We always returned drunk each time we met.
Since we parted, I have moved from place to place like drifting clouds.
Ten years has passed unnoticed like flowing water.
The joyous laughter shows our friendship remains as strong as ever,
But our hair has become gray and sparse.
I ask myself why I do not go home
And remain along the Huai River to face autumn mountains.
